The MedVetPATHOGENS 2020 conference will be held at the Monash University Prato Centre, situated on the ground and first floors of the elegant 18th century Palazzo Vaj on Via Pugliesi in the historic centre of Prato, Italy. The Monash University Prato Centre, housed in Palazzo Vaj, is in the centre of the old town of Prato, only two minutes away from the city's cathedral and walking distance from both train stations (Prato Porta Al Serraglio and Prato Centrale)- scroll down for details.


Prato provides a perfect environment for immersion in Italian language and culture. The province of Prato preserves historic works of beauty, with treasures of the Etruscan, Medieval and contemporary ages, and offers a prized cuisine with many local specialties, like cantucci. The city of Prato is also well connected by train to Florence (30 minutes), Bologna (1 hour), Pisa (1 ½ hours), Lucca (1 hour), Venice and Milan(3 hours), Rome (2hours), making it an excellent base from which to explore Italy.

Textiles and fabric

Visit an example of nineteenth century industrial archaeology at the Climatoria Campolmi Leopoldo e C- to the location of the Museo del Tessuto. Not far below the surface of the city lies it's textile production, which can be discovered here. Showcasing Prato's textile manufactoring past, the museum showcases historic sacred vestements, ethnic textiles and garments, embroidery and contemporary outfits from film productions.
